2013 Montana Area Adventure Album V2

2013 Montana Adventure Album

This was our second trip out west in 2013.  You can view the first trip from April here.  We lived in Bozeman, MT for 10 years before moving back to MN.  2013 was the first year we took our children back for an adventure, though our son was born and raised there until 15 months.  Our first trip out in April was spectacular.  Our eyes had greatly missed the sight of the Rockies, but some of our favorite locations, such as Hyalite Canyon Recreation Area, just outside of Bozeman, was not open at the time as well as Beartooth Pass outside of Red Lodge, MT.  On this trip we spent a couple of wonderful days and nights there before we set out for Yellowstone venturing through Big Sky, MT along the way.  We encountered all weather on this adventure: sun, thunderstorms, rain, wind and SNOW!  We’re raining some hardy kiddos!  🙂

Climbing the the highest point in the Bridger Range,Sacajawea, with wind that nearly knocked me off my feet,  Haven, our son is an impressive hiker… Molly’s a bit of a freeloader on the other hand!  It was exciting for the kids to hike in a cloud, but next time we want the vista.

Happy Birthday, Valentine!

Dear Molly,

Happy Birthday, My Love Bug! Four years.  It has been four years almost exactly until the moment I met you. -Going back to the moment I met you. I get choked up with emotion everytime I think about it. Sometimes I find myself hugging you, closing my eyes and just letting myself be back there for a few seconds knowing it’s an important piece of your story. The moment I met you was not felt with overwheming joy like most mothers might descibe. It was full of an instense cocktail of emotions. I was thrilled to meet you and very happy to have a daughter. But just as intensely, I felt guilt and heartache. We weren’t expecting you to be born with a cleft lip and palate. We were told otherwise from a 3D ultrasound and a direct question. It was a shock. I felt irrational guilt that I genetically gave that to you and saddness knowing what it entails… all of it… from surgeries to mean kids. It was a tough 24 hours.

Thank God for your dad. My saddness quickly turned to determination. When I looked at you, I saw you just as you are today. You were tiny (6 pounds, 4 ounces and 18 inches). Most people who held and cared for you remarked on how little and fragile you were, some asked if you were premature. That’s when I dubed your first nick name, Mighty Molly. I knew you were infanity stronger and wiser and more remarkable than most. I could feel it in every fiber of my being.  Each day since, you have proved this to be true. My God you’re wonderful! You light up any room you enter. You make me feel like the luckiest mom who ever lived. You have proven your strength and will over and over again in your four years. You’re brilliant and athletic… and a girly princess too. I love you, my Valentine.

Happy Birthday!

~Mommo

Molly is the inspiration behind my photography project, Project Molly’s Eyes. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to spread this message. Happy Valentine’s Day 2014!

Valentine’s Day 2014

Sunlit Photography wishes you and yours a vey Happy Valentine’s Day 2014! I tried to get a little clever with the cards for my kiddos this year. My daughter, aka Love Bug, was born on Valentine’s Day four years ago, so it’s a big holiday in our house. My son is attaching rubber frogs to his cards.  🙂   -Wishing I could bottle these days and years up!  Photography is the closest thing I have to a time capsule.  I’m pretty sure they won’t humor my photographic gimmicks for many more years, but this was sure fun!  Enjoy!  ~Abbey
