James & Rachel’s Golden Wedding :: St. Paul Lifestyle Wedding Photographer

Rachel and James had a fantastic and unique wedding day overflowing with both fine, ornate class and leaping leprechauns.  Ok, so there were no actual leaping leprechauns but if there were, they would have been hard to spot in the bursting, St. Paul St. Patty’s Day party!

In four hours of photography we covered quite a bit of ground since this was a small, intimate wedding… for the most part.  We began the day at The Berg House where Rachel was getting ready, and from there headed to Forepagh’s.  The two venues matched and complemented each other beautifully with rich colors and a old feel.  Forepaugh’s is beautiful establishment.  (haunted too apparently?!)  You feel like you are stepping back in time when you walk into the dimly lit entrance.   The ceremony was gorgeous, glowing with candle light in a small, stately room.

Everything about this wedding was classy, especially the gorgeous bride and groom.  All together there were roughly 20 guests, immediate family and grandparents with no formal bridal party.  After family formals in the neighboring Irvine Park, Rachel & James said they wanted to do an non-traditional shoot and head downtown straight into the St. Patty’s Day ruckus.  I was psyched and a wee bit surprised since it was a 180 from the first couple of hours!  What could be more fun on such an unusually warm day?  So, we did.  As we strolled through the jammed packed streets filled with all kinds of green characters, the B & G were greeted with 100% Minnesota nice.  My favorite shout outs were the quick witted St. Patrick’s Day remarks such as, “Dude, you stuck gold!” (directed to the groom) or “You two have to be the luckiest wedding couple ever!” or just the repeated, “Oh look!  A bride!”  Since there was no formal wedding party, why not invite serval thousand in on the fun?!   That’s what we did.  What a blast!  Enjoy & congratulations to the golden and lucky couple!  ~Abbey
